November 2024 Tech Update

By: Geeq  on Dec 7, 2024

We made significant strides during the month with exciting new features and improvements for the launch of The Hydrogen Testnet in December.

First, the team analyzed the users’ bug reports and feedback for the Stacks App. The team incorporated separate fields for the stack title, layer title, creator, and description- all terrific suggestions from the community. They also expanded the character limit for each layer from 60 characters to 120 characters, allowing for more detailed descriptions.

Second, the block explorer app was updated to display the metadata in a more intuitive layout. In preparation for the testnet faucet, the block explorer was also updated to include transfers of coins and stacks.

The main decision for test-net was to build a wallet app within the Stacks app, to keep the user inside an app experience the entire time. The wallet is on the right side of the screen and is integrated through an API with the Stacks App on the left. Users will be able to tap the faucet, see their assets of coins and Stacks, and sign transfers effortlessly via public addresses or social handles, without leaving the screen they were using.

Landing Page Redesign: A fresh, streamlined design provides a cleaner and more intuitive user experience. As always we are open to creative input and feedback. If you spot any bugs or odd-features, please do let us know!

In other news, the no-smart contract mint accounts for fungible tokens were passed to QA. While the monetary policy descriptions have not been implemented yet, the creation, validation, and transfers of this new asset class went smoothly.

Geeq now supports any easy application requiring fungible tokens identified by brand, such as loyalty points or in-game currencies. This completes the set of assets that can be minted on Geeq. We have the utility coin for validator payments and fees, unique user-defined assets (1 of 1) and fungible tokens (1 of many).

Stay tuned as we continue refining these features and more!
