The Geeq development team enhanced the Stacks App with expanded functionality. A Stack consists of multiple authenticated data items, layered together to form a single digital asset.
The Stacks App, v2 – Season 4
The team introduced a significant new feature to support user-uploaded images, allowing users to tokenize content created using any off-chain tools of their choice. Additionally, moderation for user-uploaded images was integrated into v2 using AWS Rekognition.
To be clear, moderation decisions are made solely at the app level, as the app is hosted on a Geeq subdomain. This approach does not affect the blockchain protocol, which remains data-agnostic.
Scalability
The team identified areas for optimization, such as the duplication of ledgers in memory when multiple workers were used to speed up single and joint checks and other protocol computations. Architectural changes were made, and work began to enhance the Application Layer Ledge
Thinking ahead
The requirements for upcoming v3 features of the Stacks App were defined for the end-of-year (EOY) test-net. The development of the test-net faucet also commenced.
Summary
Version 1 of the Stacks App showcased users’ ability to attest to the provenance of individual layers within a multi-layered digital asset. Stacks were implemented as a type of counterparty NFT, enabling users to append descriptions to assets they had already minted and owned. Version 2 expanded on this by allowing users to group and upload their own items, creating new opportunities to curate personalized collections with the security of on-chain verification.
We’re excited to launch Season 5 of the Stacks App this November and look forward to seeing how you use it. Please share this update and invite your friends and communities—now is the perfect time to explore the next evolution of NFTs!
As always, thank you for your support.
