Geeq’s Chief Economist and Founder John P. Conley‘s gave a 30 minute presentation at the prestigious CryptoEconomics Security Conference (CESC), “Game Theory for Distributed Systems”. Special thanks to Prysm Group for providing the video here!
From Berkeley to San Francisco
Planning for the CESC, to take place the Monday and Tuesday at the beginning of San Francisco Blockchain Week, started far in advance of the actual dates of October 28 – 29, 2019. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Pauley Ballroom at UC Berkeley.
However, on the evening of October 23, 2019, the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County began. By the evening of October 27th, 90,000 people were under evacuation orders. The California wildfire burned unpredictably, turning with the “Diablo winds”, flames jumping the containment lines on Highway 128, and putting California residents in a nightmarish state of emergency on October 28th. The fire lasted 10 days before it was contained on November 3.
As conference attendees experienced delays in air travel and could see the land burning beneath them, conference organizers wrestled with logistics, uncertain whether Pacific Gas & Electric would be shutting off power to the Berkeley area. On Sunday, the organizers made the call to move the conference overnight to the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.
By Monday afternoon, however, Geeq Founder and Chief Economist John P. Conley‘s talk “Game Theory for Distributed Systems”, introduced Geeq’s Proof of Honesty (PoH) to a packed ballroom of attendees of the CryptoEconomics Security Conference held during San Francisco Blockchain Week, October 2019.
The talk was a success. Those power transmission lines – we still need to solve some problems there. We have some ideas about that using Geeq blockchain and IoT : if you’re a power company who is searching for a low cost way to show your good faith, let’s talk.
