Encode
What does Encode mean?
To convert information from one system of communication into another.
Main Idea:
Encoding data or information is done to improve its usability. It is not the same as encryption, which is intended to keep files private.
Text files are encoded as ACII or Unicode files, which can be used, transmitted, and transformed by a digital computer. However, a person with knowledge of ASCII could figure out what the original text file was. Encoding the file in a digital manner does not make the file’s contents secure.
Used in a Sentence:
Audio files are encoded as MP3 files and the encoding does not in itself prevent anyone from downloading, playing, and understanding the recorded sounds.
