Are you ready to see what happens when you send a transaction to a Geeq chain? Of course you are! This video shows you how to do so in our Simulator v0.1.
The simulator shows a simple payment blockchain, where user accounts are displayed in the first row and nodes are displayed in the second row. The nodes are numbered sequentially, left to right, beginning with 0. In v0.1, all the other users are a mystery to you, which is the most general case for permissionless payment systems.
Some customized blockchain-based applications on Geeq may be permissioned; however, that is for another day.
When you START the simulator, it initializes a chain’s Genesis Block. Now you are free to customize your user account balance, choose a node, and SEND a transaction. Remember, at Geeq, it is easy to maintain control of your tokens by choosing a node that competes for your business on the basis of its provably honest work.
Choosing an honest node is simple when you practice Edge Security. This is a feature that will be incorporated in future Geeq wallets. When a node provides proof of its honesty to your satisfaction, send your transaction to it and it will be validated according to the chain’s rules, as specified in its Genesis Block.
If you like, you may follow your transaction’s validation path through the network in the Event Log.
Taken as a whole, v0.1 shows how your transactions become part of a distributed and completely decentralized Geeq chain database, maintained by the honest nodes in its network.
What to Look for When You Send a Transaction
After you send your transaction, you can check your account balance in the Current Ledger State of each node. Refreshing the browser reinitializes v0.1 so you can see the protocol work all over again.
Note: The simulator programs some nodes to exhibit malicious behavior if you run it long enough. As the code runs, you will see an audit is triggered automatically when the network detects a discrepancy between the nodes. In v0.1, the cards of nodes turn gray when they fail to provide the correct proof. This serves as a visual cue that they are not reliable and you should not transact with them or depend on them for information.
The Geeq Advantage
Every Geeq chain follows the same validation protocol, whether they are validating transactions of tokens or data. This means every application on the Geeq platform is able to provide reliably validated and auditable information at any time. The consistency of data in a canonical Geeq chain is what allows parties with different economic interests to coordinate on the same information.
The security of a consistent, accessible, and dependably neutral database for every chain is unique to Geeq. This is because Geeq’s technology does not allow actors to accumulate power to act in their own interests rather than yours. If others want to change the rules, they will have to start a new chain and try to attract you to it. That is exactly what should happen in an economy that is open, inclusive, and based on competition rather than monopoly power. Decentralized platforms provide more opportunities. What you do with them is your choice.
